This is the general philosophy of marketing.

However, marketing is also much more than just reaching out to prospective customers. Indeed, marketing refers to the process by which you advertise your product or service to potential customers. Marketing is an act of understanding the culture of your targeted market, understanding their buying decisions and preferences, and using the opportunities provided by those choices to meet those needs. When you successfully integrate these four Ps into your marketing mix, you will have dramatically increased the chances of your product being purchased.

In order to successfully compete in today’s marketplace, you must be skilled at developing a marketing strategy that focuses on meeting your company’s unique competitive needs. This highly specific strategy should include four elements: identification of your target market, an understanding of your product or service, a plan to effectively communicate with this market, and a strategy for successfully engaging with your target market.
